Colored Gems: They’re Not Just For Royals

Like anything and everything that had to do with the royal wedding last year, Kate Middleton’s giant, gorgeous sapphire engagement ring—the same as Princess Diana’s—was (and probably still is) a source of endless discussion, awe, and jealousy. Though most of us probably don’t think of any color other than “clear” when we think of a traditional rock, there’s an entire world out there of color that many engagement ring shoppers never even think of exploring. Around Chicago, engagement rings come in endless styles and designs, so it’s surprising that more people in the area don’t opt for colored stones. A unique individual deserves a ring that celebrates what makes her so special, and color is another way that you can make your engagement ring pick more personal to her.

The brands that we carry here at James and Sons each take their own approaches to color, and we’re happy to feature several of these brands as a little introduction to a more colorful approach to engagement rings:

When colored stones come up, Hearts on Fire comes to mind immediately; if their name doesn’t say it all, then their reputation for stunning rainbow sparks that dance in their diamonds should.

Tacori has a few vibrant options of its own, like the pave-set ring in its Dantela line boasting twin sapphires complementing the diamond crown around its central diamond. Or the ring in the Tacori Crescent line with pink diamonds that pop out from a central channel of rose gold.

Ritani’s beautiful Endless Love engagement ring is similar to the Royal one, featuring a large sapphire in the center in a crown of small diamonds.

If your interest has been piqued, stop by our store to see what we have in stock. Combining big-city selection with a small-town, personal approach to service, there’s a reason we consider ourselves a Northwest Indiana engagement rings resource.
